DW Excavation supplies aggregates (sand, gravel, crushed stone, base rock), concrete, asphalt, and specialized construction materials to residential and commercial projects across Sonoma County, Monterey County, and the California Central Coast. Orders are coordinated through our own supplier network, with direct jobsite delivery available throughout the region. As a licensed excavation contractor since 2013, we source material based on actual field requirements — not catalog specs.

What We Supply & How It Works

Getting the right material to the right place at the right time is more complicated than it sounds. Aggregate grades vary by application. Concrete mixes are specified by structural load. Asphalt formulations differ between driveways and heavy-traffic roads. When you're sourcing through a team that also does the excavation and grading, those details get handled correctly from the start — because we've dealt with the downstream consequences of bad material choices on our own projects.

DW Excavation coordinates material supply as an integrated part of the construction process, whether we're managing the full project or supplying to a client's independent contractor. Our network of regional suppliers covers the full California Central Coast, from Sonoma County in the north through Monterey County and surrounding areas.

Aggregates Supply

  • Base Rock & Crushed Stone — Class II base, ¾" crushed, 1½" crushed, and recycled aggregate for sub-base prep, road building, and drainage applications.

  • Geotextile & Drainage Fabric — Separation, filtration, and reinforcement fabrics for road beds, retaining walls, and erosion control installations.
  • Bioretention Media — Engineered soil mixes for rain gardens, bioswales, and low-impact development stormwater features.

Delivery & Logistics

We coordinate delivery through our own hauling contacts and regional suppliers, with scheduling tied to your project timeline. Bulk materials delivered by the ton or cubic yard. We track drop sites, access constraints, and sequencing so materials arrive when your crew is ready for them — not before or after. For ongoing projects, we maintain running material schedules to avoid delays between phases.

DW Excavation has worked on projects from single-family residential sites to large-scale land development across Sonoma County, Monterey County, and the California Central Coast. As a CA LIC #1060838 contractor with more than a decade of field experience, we bring the same planning discipline to material supply that we apply to every other phase of excavation and site work.

Material Supply Across Sonoma County, Monterey County & the California Central Coast

Construction material logistics on the Central Coast require regional knowledge that doesn't come from a catalog. Soil conditions, aggregate availability, haul distances, and access constraints vary significantly between Sonoma County wine country, Monterey County agricultural land, and the coast. DW Excavation has been sourcing and moving materials across this entire corridor since 2013 — we know which suppliers stock what, which roads handle which loads, and how to sequence deliveries on sites that aren't straightforward.

Whether you're building a new residence in Sonoma County, developing agricultural infrastructure in Monterey County, or working on a commercial project anywhere along the California Central Coast, we can coordinate materials and delivery as a standalone service or as part of a broader excavation engagement.

Sonoma County

DW Excavation is based in Windsor, Sonoma County — giving us immediate access to local aggregate suppliers, ready-mix plants, and haul routes throughout the county. We supply material for residential sites in Santa Rosa, rural properties in Healdsburg and Cloverdale, and coastal projects near Bodega Bay. Familiarity with local grading conditions and permit requirements means no learning curve on your project.

Monterey County & Central Coast

Our Monterey County coverage extends from the Salinas Valley to the coast, handling material supply for agricultural infrastructure, residential development, and commercial site work. The California Central Coast presents distinct logistical challenges — coastal access, hillside terrain, and agricultural load requirements — and we build delivery schedules around those realities rather than standard assumptions. We also serve Santa Cruz, San Benito, and Santa Clara counties.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about construction material supply, delivery, and working with DW Excavation across Sonoma County, Monterey County, and the California Central Coast.

☎ 707-601-9091
Do you supply materials without doing the excavation work too?+

Yes. Material supply is available as a standalone service. You don't need to hire us for excavation or grading to order aggregate, fill, or other construction materials through us. That said, many clients find it easier to handle both through one contractor so the scheduling and quantities stay aligned with actual site conditions.

What's the minimum order quantity for aggregate or fill material?+

Minimum quantities vary by material type and delivery location. Most bulk aggregate orders work out to a minimum truckload — typically 10–20 tons depending on the material. Smaller quantities may incur additional delivery charges or may be better sourced locally. Give us a call with your project details and we can tell you what makes sense for your situation.

How do I know which type of aggregate or base material I need?+

The right material depends on what it's supporting — a road bed has different base requirements than a drainage trench or a landscape path. If you have engineer specs, we source to those. If you're working from a general scope without detailed specs, our field experience means we can advise on appropriate material grades based on application, soil conditions, and load expectations. We'd rather get that conversation right upfront than have you call back because the material isn't performing.

Can you schedule phased deliveries for a longer project?+

Yes, and for multi-phase projects, it's the smart way to handle it. Storing large quantities of aggregate on site creates compaction, contamination, and access problems. We can set up a running material schedule tied to your project phases so each delivery arrives when your crew is ready for it. This keeps the site clean and avoids the cost of moving material twice.

Do you supply concrete and asphalt, or just aggregates?+

Both. For concrete, we coordinate with regional ready-mix plants and schedule deliveries tied to your pour window. For asphalt, we source hot mix through established relationships with paving material suppliers across Sonoma County, Monterey County, and the Central Coast. Cold patch is also available for repair and patching work. If you're doing the paving yourself or with a sub, we handle the material side.

What areas do you deliver to?+

Our primary service area covers Sonoma County, Monterey County, and the California Central Coast — including Santa Cruz County, San Benito County, and Santa Clara County. Delivery to rural, hillside, and agriculturally-zoned properties is within our normal scope. For projects outside this corridor or in locations with unusual access requirements, call us to discuss — we work out logistics on a case-by-case basis.

How is pricing structured for material supply?+

Material pricing depends on type, grade, quantity, and delivery distance. Aggregate is typically priced per ton delivered. Ready-mix concrete is priced per cubic yard. Asphalt pricing varies by mix type and load size. We provide itemized quotes so you know exactly what you're getting and what it costs. There are no hidden fuel surcharges or last-minute additions — what we quote is what you pay.

Can you source eco-friendly or recycled construction materials?+

Yes. Recycled aggregate (crushed concrete and asphalt reclaim), recycled base rock, and permeable aggregate systems are all available. For projects pursuing LEED credits, green building certifications, or low-impact development requirements, we can source materials that meet those specifications. Let us know your project's sustainability goals when you inquire and we'll build the material list around them.

What if my site has difficult access — steep grades, tight roads, or soft ground?+

Difficult access is part of what we deal with across the California Central Coast — rural hillside properties in Sonoma County, coastal parcels in Monterey County, and agricultural sites throughout the region. We assess access before scheduling delivery, select appropriate truck configurations, and plan drop locations that don't require material to be moved twice. If the access problem is significant, we'll tell you upfront rather than show up with the wrong equipment.

How far in advance do I need to order materials?+

For standard aggregate and fill material, a few days' lead time is usually sufficient. For ready-mix concrete, we recommend scheduling your pour at least 48–72 hours out to lock in a batch plant slot. Specialty materials, engineered mixes, or large-volume orders may require more lead time. For ongoing projects, we recommend establishing a running schedule so availability is locked in before you need it rather than scrambling on short notice.

Can DW Excavation handle both materials and installation on the same project?+

Yes — and that's often the most efficient approach. When we're supplying aggregate for a grading project we're also managing, quantity precision improves significantly. We know what the site actually needs based on field conditions, not just plan quantities. Fewer deliveries, less waste, and better-compacted results are the typical outcomes. We've been doing integrated material supply and installation work since 2013 across Sonoma County, Monterey County, and the California Central Coast.
